From our beginnings to today
Our history
In the 16th century, a man named Lamolhière came to help repopulate the region after the wars. The Duke of Duras granted him land in the parish, where he planted vines. The Lamolhière family became Protestant; in 1687, they were arrested and sent to the galleys to row in the King’s service. With no tenant left, the land became the Duke of Duras’s property, as shown by a flag on the Belleyme map, the land survey of the time. The house became a hunting lodge.
In 1950, Claude and Christiane Blancheton, the parents of Francis and Patrick, bought the property. They were the first winegrowers in Duras to bottle their wine.
In 1987, Francis and Patrick joined their parents in the business. Francis handled sales, while Patrick took charge of winemaking and estate management. Their parents retired in 1993. Over the years, the estate grew from 8 to 30 hectares, driven by the brothers’ specialist training and attachment to their terroir. Francis retired in 2014, leaving Patrick at the helm.
In 2025, Patrick restructured the estate, reducing its area from 30 to 15.10 hectares.

Sauvignon is ideal as an aperitif and pairs beautifully with fish and seafood. The first bottles were released in 1967, when Patrick and Francis’s parents ran the estate.

Côtes de Duras
One of France’s oldest appellations, between Bordeaux and Bergerac.
From the Château de Duras, on the limestone outcrop that forms the prow of our small hills, facing the plain that leads to Bordeaux and the ocean, we have tended vines for generations and made wines with an age-old reputation.
Our history, that of the Dukes of Duras and of the farmers and settlers who populated and cultivated our valleys, is a story of hard work, determination and passion.
Under the decree of 16 February 1937, Côtes de Duras was among the first vineyards awarded Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée status, recognising the authentic character of its wines.
